Q1) (a) List two reasons why teens are reluctant to call helplines despite the promise of anonymity and professional help.
(b) According to Ms Lily Chu, how does Touch Leadership and Mentoring prefer to help troubled teens ?
Answer : (a) The first reason is that they scared that people will laugh at them and the second reason is that there's something that they afraid to say out.
(b) They preferred to help the teens more direct with educational workshops in school, face to face counseling and home visits. Q2) Have you confided in your friends or family members about the problem you face in school / life? Why or why not ?
Have you been betrayed by your friends before ? If yes, how? (You may change the names of the people involved for privacy)
Answer :
Yes, of course. I confided my friends as I felt more comfortable to share with them compared to my family members. I only keep it to myself if I still can keep all those feelings to myself. Only when I really cannot cope with it , than I shares it with friends and hope they could help.
Of course not, my friends are all people can be trusted.
ST Reflection 2009- Secondary 2NA/ETerm 3, Term 3, Week 5 (29 July 09) Q1) (a) What are the 2 worrying trends about drug trafficking mentioned in the article? (b) Why are Singaporeans increasingly being used as "drug mules"?
Answer: (a) The first worrying trend is that teens, below 14 years old had been arrested for trafficking, although the number of convicts were not known. The second worrying trend is that more Singaporeans are being arrested because of drug crimes overseas.
(b) It's all because they are less likely to be checked because of Singapore's reputation for being tough on drugs. Q2) What will you do if you find out that one of your friends is selling drugs? How will you react if someone tries to sell you drugs?
Answer : I would give him advice to not continue the crime and I also would tell the teacher if my friend continues the crime. I will just walk away if someone sell drugs to me. And I would also report to the police.

Q1) (a) Why is it easy for burglars to break into stalls at the two markets in the Kallang area? (b) What is the Geylang East Central Merchants' Association going to do about the break-ins?
Answer :
(a) The top of the stall was open that make the burglars to break into the stalls at the two markets in the Kallang area. They get up on the pipes or the metal bars to climb up to the stall.
(b) The Geylang East Central Merchants' Association chairman, Mr Tan Seng Peng had suggested to meet the National Environment Agency also known as the NEA and the town councils to search for further improving security by changing the stalls' layout and design. He also wanted to vary the stall arrangement.
Q2) What do you think should be done to tighten the security of the markets? What do you think of the burglars who brazenly break into the stalls?
Answer : We should put close circuit television somewhere near the stalls to track down burglars who trying to get into the stalls. With that, when a break-in happens, it will be easy for them to catch the burglars. They just have nothing to do and should be desperate of money. They can do other things like finding a job to earn money instead of stealing from other people's stall.

Q1) (a) Why is cheer leading an expensive sport? (b) What makes cheer leading such a tough sport?
Answer :
(a) Cheer leading is an expensive sport as a lot of things that they need to buy. Things like their pom-poms that cost $50 to $70 for a a pair imported from Taiwan. Other than that, they also need to buy hair products that cost about $50 for a team per competition. New tailored costumes for each competition season that cost $100 to $400 each. They also need to pay for their gymnastic classes and workshops for $50 per lesson. Their tights cost from $2 to $25 that imported from Thailand. Not only that but they also had to buy their training mats that cost $50 each. For their shoes that imported from the United States and Taiwan cost $90 to $150 a pair. And lastly, medical insurance and nutritional supplements and vitamins are also needed for cheer leading. It cost up to $30 to $100 per person for the medical insurance. As for nutritional supplements, it cost up to $50 to $130 per bottle. That's why cheer leading is a expensive sport.
(b) Its such a tough sport as cheer leading needs hours of practice several times a week, never minding blood, sweat and tears it takes to perfect each high flip, lift and tumbling stunt that is part of the routine. It requires teamwork to get a stunt done. It's not easy and not for only fun, it needs a lot of training.
Q2) What is your opinion of cheerleaders? If given a chance, would you join cheer leading? Why/ why not?
Answer : In my opinion, cheerleaders have a good mind set for what they wanted as they do not think of the pain and the tiredness that they need to go through for the practice as long as they get to go into the cheer leading competition that cost a lot of money. They even take the risk of joining this tough sport as they have the value of resilience in them that they manage to join this sport. If I have the chance of joining cheer leading squad, I would take the risk too as this sport is quite challenging and I think its good for students to set the values in them.

Q1)What are some of the problems involved in separating a conjoined twin?
Answer : Problems like severe chest infections that leads to death. Numerous complication, including a potential fatal problem with the spinal cord is also some problems that can occur when separating a conjoined twin. The excessive blood loss also can lead the twins to death.
2)If you were a part of a conjoined twin, would you rather stay together with your twin for the rest of your life or would you risk both your lives to go for an operation? Why?
Answer : Yes, I rather stay together with my conjoined twin although a lot of complication will occur. I rather face all the complications and problem than suffering for the rest of my life or even loss my conjoined twin. I can even be dead if my conjoined twin and I go through the surgery. How will my parents felt ? They will of course be sad. Life is precious. So we should treasure it and thankful with what we have.
